This Privacy Policy explains how ClipShare handles local clips, temporarily shared content, technical logs, analytics, and advertising-related data.

I. How ClipShare Handles Content

1. Time-Limited Sharing

  • You can share text, images, and non-image files up to 5MB with a share code, link, or QR code. Images are compressed to a target size of up to 1MB.
  • A normal share remains available for about 10 minutes after creation. Its code and link then stop working, and the content enters the service's deletion flow.
  • Anyone who has a valid share code or link can open the content before it expires.

2. Local Clips

  • Text and images that you save locally are stored in the current browser. Non-image files cannot be saved as local clips and can only be shared directly.
  • Local clips are not sent to the sharing service unless you choose Share. They remain accessible only in the browser profile where you saved them.

II. How We Process Shared Content

When you create a share, the submitted text, image, or file is sent to the sharing service and stored temporarily so the recipient can open it.

  • We do not use shared content for ad personalization or unrelated profiling.
  • Normal shares become unavailable about 10 minutes after creation and then enter the deletion flow.
  • A share created in the current browser may also be withdrawn before it expires.

III. Sharing Risks and Boundaries

Before creating a share, keep these limits in mind:

  • Anyone with a valid share code, link, or QR code can open the content while the share is active.
  • Do not use a normal share for passwords, private keys, full identity documents, payment details, or other highly sensitive information.
  • Do not share illegal content or material you are not authorized to distribute.

IV. Browser Storage

  • Local clips are stored in the current browser profile rather than in a ClipShare account.
  • ClipShare does not automatically upload local clips. They are sent to the sharing service only when you create a share.
  • Clearing ClipShare site data can permanently remove local clips from that browser.

V. Logs and Technical Information

To operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service, we may process technical information such as:

  • Access time
  • IP address, browser type (User-Agent)

These server-side logs are only used for operations, security, and anti-abuse purposes. We do not use them ourselves for ad personalization or user profiling.

Analytics, Advertising, and Cookie Notice

To improve site performance, understand usage, and keep advertising review or ad serving compliant, we may rely on the following third-party services:

Google Analytics (GA4)

We use Google Analytics to collect aggregated statistics such as page views, session duration, device type, and traffic sources. This data helps us understand site performance and is controlled by your consent choices.

Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with pages, including clicks, scrolls, heatmaps, and session replay data, so we can identify usability issues and improve the product.

Google AdSense

If this site loads the Google AdSense review script or serves ads after approval, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to verify, serve, limit, and measure ads. Whether ads are personalized or non-personalized depends on your location, available Google settings, and your consent choice on this site.

These services may process your IP address, approximate location, browser and device information, and on-page interaction data. Input fields are masked where possible, and we do not use shared or imported content for ad personalization.

For visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland, non-essential analytics and advertising-related storage remains disabled until consent is granted.

Depending on where you live and the law that applies, including the GDPR or UK GDPR, you may have the right to:

  • Ask whether we process your personal data and request access to or a copy of it.
  • Correct personal data that is inaccurate or incomplete.
  • Request deletion or restriction of processing, subject to legal and operational exceptions.
  • Object to processing, including personalized advertising, and withdraw consent at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.
  • Receive data you provided in a portable format when the right to data portability applies.
  • Complain to the data protection or supervisory authority where you live, work, or believe a violation occurred.

California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

Where the CCPA/CPRA applies, California residents may request to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, their sources, purposes, and recipient categories; request correction or deletion; opt out of sale or sharing; limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; and exercise these rights without discriminatory treatment.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

ClipShare does not sell personal information for money, and we do not use shared or imported content for cross-context behavioral advertising. If advertising is active and you consent to advertising storage, Google and its partners may process online identifiers for personalized advertising. Under some U.S. state laws, this may be treated as “sale,” “sharing,” or targeted advertising. Where applicable, an enabled Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal is treated as an advertising opt-out and keeps ad personalization denied.

How to Submit a Rights Request

To exercise a privacy right, use our Contact page or email [email protected]. State that your message is a privacy request and identify the right you want to exercise.

Local clips exist only in your browser, so ClipShare cannot access or delete them for you. You can remove them in the product or by clearing this site’s browser data. Temporary shares normally expire automatically; if a share is still active, include its share code or link in your request, but do not email the shared content itself.

We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify and fulfill a request. We will respond within the period required by applicable law, and may retain or decline to delete information where a legal exception applies.

VII. User Responsibility

You are responsible for the content you submit and for choosing an appropriate sharing method. Do not share content that is illegal, unauthorized, or too sensitive for a bearer-link workflow.

We may update this policy when the product, data practices, or legal requirements change. The current version will be published on this page.

Snap Feature Notice

If you use Snap, we handle related content and technical data in the following way:

  • The Snap content you submit is processed and stored temporarily only to generate a one-time link and deliver the message to a visitor who opens that link.
  • The Snap endpoint stops returning the original text after the first successful view. If nobody opens the link, it expires 10 minutes after creation and then enters the service deletion flow.
  • To reduce repeated reveals, the browser may store a local “viewed” marker. This marker is only used to control repeat display locally and does not contain the message body.
  • When a Snap link is created or opened, we and related infrastructure may process necessary technical data such as IP address, user agent, access time, and request status for delivery, security, rate limiting, and abuse prevention.

Snap is designed to shorten the exposure window, not to provide absolute security or long-term custody. Do not use Snap for permanent credentials, seed phrases, or irreplaceable core secrets.
